Welcome back. I hope you had a relaxing Easter and didn't eat too many chocolate eggs and are looking forward to the final term of Year 5! As usual, we have so many exciting things planned for this term and our topic is based on Africa. It is a geography based topic, however we are interweaving English and Art too! We will be using a holiday brochures and Lonely Planet books to stimulate our writing so that we can become travel writers. In Art the children will develop their sculpting skills so that they can create African Masks. In Science, we will study plants and animals and look at how they adapt to their habitats in order to survive and how they reproduce. African artifacts that can be shared with the children would be greatly appreciated!
If you have any questions or queries regarding school issues then please do not hesitate to contact me. Many thanks for your continued support.

To promote healthy eating and to ensure your child stays alert, we recommend that they eat a piece of fresh fruit at break time and a suitable water bottle (clear) is available to use throughout the school day. Please note that children should only be drinking water.
Please make sure your child brings their P.E kits into school on a Monday and they will bring it home to be washed on a Friday. If your child has earrings please remember that they must be removed. Long hair should also be tied back. Games lessons will take place outside whenever possible. Please provide suitable clothing for this lesson, i.e. trainers, tracksuit bottoms (or equivalent), spare socks and a warm top. We will be taking part in the Daily Mile and we will be running for 15 minutes 3x a week—it is important that your child has a spare pair of socks!
