Welcome to Eagles Class! We hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable summer and are looking forward to a busy and exciting term in Year 6.
We will start the term with a great picture book called After the Fall. This story has a really positive message about resilience that will be important for us all as we return to school.
WWI will be the main focus of the autumn term. We will use historical sources to find out more about why people went to war and what life was like in the trenches. There are lots of great novels to read around this subject and we'd love to hear about any extra research children do at home.
Regular reading and sharing of books will be even more important this term and research shows that reading at home (either reading independently or being read to by an adult or older sibling) positively impacts upon children’s progress in so many ways, as does supporting children with their number facts and their times tables in mathematics.
We know new routines make it more challenging to have a quick chat with us so if you'd like to speak with us, please contact the school office to make arrangements.
Thank you for your continued support,
Mr Hor, Mrs Thurlow and Mrs Stubbings
Our PE days are:
ALL PE sessions will now take place outdoors so children will need warm clothes or layers. Please ensure that your child comes to school wearing their PE kit on these days - they will not be able to get changed in school. Please ensure that earrings are removed and that long hair is tied up on these days.
Children should also have spare shoes in school everyday as they will need to wear them on the field at break and lunch.
