School Published Admission Numbers (PAN) Consultation

I am writing to you to formally notify you of the consultation to raise the Published Admission Number (PAN) of The Littleport Community Primary School. This is a separate process to the Planning consultation to physically expand the school’s premises, and is being carried out in line with the Department of Education guidance that states a Local Authority must publicly consult on any changes that are permanent (defined by the DfE as being for more than three years), and increase the capacity of the school by more than 30 pupils and more than 25% or the overall capacity.

The consultation runs from 10/11/2025 to 08/12/2025, and will include an online public event, hosted by Officers and the Headteacher of the School, held via Microsoft Teams on 25/11/2025.

Full details of the proposal, including a link to the public event can be found on our webpage: Littleport Primary School Expansion | Cambridgeshire County Council

Proposal to increase the Published Admission Number at Littleport Community Primary School

Cambridgeshire County Council plans to make changes to Littleport Community Primary School, located at Parsons Lane, Littleport, Ely, Cambridgeshire, CB6 1JT. These changes are expected to take effect for the September 2027 Reception intake, pending the completion of building work necessary to accommodate the additional children.

Background

Littleport Community Primary School was inspected by Ofsted in October 2024 and was rated as ‘Good’. The school had 398 children enrolled as of the January 2025 census. The school currently has a Published Admission Number (PAN) of 60.

A planning application was approved to expand the physical capacity of the school to accommodate up to 630 places.

Proposal

To increase the PAN for Littleport Community Primary School, from 60 to 90 children per Reception intake, pending completion of building works to expand the physical capacity at the school.

Implementation Plan

Cambridgeshire County Council will launch a consultation on the proposed changes for four weeks, from Monday 10 November 2025 to Monday 8 December 2025. This consultation provides opportunities for interested parties to make comments. An online consultation meeting will take place on 25 November 2025, you can join this meeting via this link: Join the meeting now.

The Council will review all comments received during this period before making a decision about the proposed changes. If approved, the changes are expected to take effect from September 2027, depending on the completion of necessary building work.

Decision

The decision will be posted here once comments have been collated and considered.

Best wishes,

Mr Adam Rivett
