Sport and PE

At Littleport Community Primary School there are plenty of opportunities for pupils to try their hand at a range of sporting activities such as Tag Rugby, Rounders, Netball, Football, Athletics, Hockey, Dance and Gymnastics, to name but a few. Swimming lessons for Years 4 to 6 take place at the local Hive pool in Ely.

Littleport Community Primary School is affiliated to the Witchford Schools' Sports Partnership which runs a number of inter-school sports competitions during the course of the academic year. Our teams always enjoy the experience of competitive matches against pupils from other local schools, as well as the fresh air and exercise. Our after school sports clubs provide further opportunities for children to develop skills.

Sports Premium Funding.

Following Team GBs success at the London 2012 Olympics, the Government announced new funding of £150 million for Physical Education (PE) and sport.  This funding should be used to improve the quality and breadth of PE and Sport provision.  The funding is for the period 1 September 2013 – 31 August 2014 & September 2014 – August 2015.  This funding is ring fenced to be used for sport specific areas to make an impact in Physical Education and Sport in schools.

Schools are free to determine how best to use this funding to improve the quality and breadth of PE and Sport provision, including increasing participation in PE and Sport so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of.
