Mental Health & Well-being

There are lots of charities and organisations in our local community that can support with parental and family mental health and well-being. 

 

Below are some of the organisations that are available for families to access.

NSPCC Well-being

Dads Matter is a charity and course supporting fathers across Norfolk and the local area. Whether a father is living with his children or apart from them, his role in their upbringing is of huge importance. Dads Matter welcomes not just biological dads but any significant male role model in the child’s life. This includes stepdads and uncles. They are also offering sessions for fathers of children with disabilities.

Dads Matter

Gingerbread is a service for single parent families. Their advice and support services help families to get the right support when and where they need it most. There are online forums and digital groups where single parent families can meet and share their experiences. There are also free local workshops that parents can attend from wellbeing to the cost of living support.

The Keep Your Head Up website is a fantastic central point for information on mental health and wellbeing for parents and families in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. It can help you to find local services and get tips on ways to improve your own wellbeing, and how to look out for others. It is also a great place for self-help advice, local helplines and charities that are available. The website has been developed through a collaboration between Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group, Cambridgeshire County Council, Peterborough City Council, and many voluntary sector partners including the SUN Network and Lifecraft.

Keep Your Head Up

Andy's Man Club are a men’s mental health and prevention charity, offering free-to-attend, peer-to-peer support groups across the United Kingdom and online. They want to end the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and wellbeing and help men through the power of conversation providing a space, open space for men to talk openly about their wellbeing. There are local groups available in Cambridge and Peterborough.

Andy's Man Club

Mind CPSL is a mental health and wellbeing support group for families and parents in the local area. Each year they support lots of local people through counselling, peer support groups and 'good mood cafes' providing safe spaces for individuals to discuss their wellbeing.

Netmums has access to a wide range of support groups in and around Littleport that can help families and parents with their wellbeing and mental health. Whether it is a bereavement, relationship problems, illness, employment difficulties or mental health, Netmums have rounded up the places that you can turn to if you are in need of advice or support.
