As you will no doubt be aware, the Prime Minister has tonight taken the decision to close schools to all but vulnerable children and children of critical workers. This means that face-to-face learning will cease for the vast majority of children and schools will move to remote learning instead until February half term at the earliest.
We have been given this information at the same time as the rest of the nation so, as I am sure you can appreciate given the late timing of the announcement, there are a number of plans that will need to be implemented and this takes time. This means that school WILL NOT be open to any children TOMORROW (Tuesday 5th January) whilst we set up for remote learning and get ready for vulnerable pupils and critical workers coming to school from Wednesday 6th January. We appreciate the significant inconvenience this will cause families whilst we make necessary arrangements and implement remote learning and apologise in advance.
If you or your partner are considered critical workers or your child is considered vulnerable AND you intend on sending your child(ren) in to school during this closure, please complete the following online form: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/LCPSCWVFORM by 10am on Tuesday 5th January. Please fill in a separate form for every child you are sending in.
(Government definitions for critical workers and vulnerable children are available here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-maintaining-educational-provision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-local-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision) Further information will follow as soon as we receive guidance.
Thank you for your understanding. Stay safe.
